About Daria
Daria Bauer grew up in Berkeley California, a child of the sixties, which meant the rapidly and wildly changing times around her left their imprint on her soul and in her heart; knowing that connection and community are prime needs for people everywhere.
Her years of work as a community outreach specialist and fundraiser for a non-profit organization that contracted with rape crisis centers/hotlines, battered womens’ shelters, the Child Assault Prevention school programs, and womens’ cancer resource center grew her heart and mind to a broader perspective and understanding.
She discovered that her voice, whether it be as a singer or as an actor, is the tool she was to hone in order that she could best bring that connection to others. In developing her talent and skill with respected voice teachers at the SF Conservatory of Music and top drama coaches in Northern and Southern California she gained an ability to both have fun and move audiences at the same time, acting live on stage, on screen, and in concert venues.
In 2020, she hit the ground running within this newly more virtual world of online auditions and productions: studying with top coaches on both coasts, learning the techniques of great self tapes and zoom auditions. She booked some jobs remotely using her pro home set up with direction via zoom.
At this point in life, she’s broadening her career to reach a larger audience and take on new roles wherever they may take her..
Daria works in New York to San Francisco and Los Angeles regions.
Reviews
Don Root.
Special correspondent to the Novato Advance, in his review of The Sound of Music, where Daria played the Mother Abbess, wrote:
When Bauer’s turn comes, her enthusiasm for these “favorite things” bursts out across the theater in a great flood of joy, easily selling the audience. It’s a great moment in the production, and a good lesson from a seasoned veteran.
Monica Norcia
Music director of Novato Theater Company’s “Man of La Mancha”, wherein Daria was cast as Antonia, as well as their production of “The Sound of Music”, featuring Daria as the Mother Abbess, wrote:
Daria has a strong and beautiful mezzo-soprano voice, which she uses skillfully and expressively. She is a competent musician, reads music well and her ear allows her to learn quickly. She is always theatrically effective in whatever role she takes on, whether it be a lead or in ensemble.
Gloria Wood
musical director of the Ross Valley Players’ production of “Once Upon a Mattress”, wrote:
I first saw Daria Bauer in a production of “The Most Happy Fella” for the Novato Theatre Co. She was playing the role of Tony’s sister, and she seemed very solid vocally and in her character interpretation. She was part of the ensemble when I acted as Musical Director for “Once Upon a Mattress” for the Ross Valley Players and she was again solid on stage; both vocally and dramatically. When I sang the role of Mrs. Peachum in a recent production of “Three Penny Opera” at the College of Marin, Daria was again in the ensemble and she enthusiastically threw herself into her time on stage.
